I am so Sore :(

My skin is horrifically dry today. I don't know if it has anything to do with the weather getting warmer, my hormones or what ever it is. All I know is that I've put moisturiser on a few times already and it still hurts. I'm not too bad while I am sitting down but once I get up to walk its horrid.

It looks like I either need to slap on some more stuff or soak in the tub later tonight. Geez this stuff sucks big time today!!!!

I'm Having A Pity Party!

OMGoodness my skin is burning right now. It's so hot and sore, it's not fair. Oh I know it sounds like I am whinging but my skin truly does feel like it is on fire at the moment. I've moisturised and used the medicated creams that the doctor has prescribed but they aren't helping. I am hoping that this is just a hormonal flare up and that it will settle down soon. You should see all the flakes I've left all over the place and I vacuumed already today. It's so not fair!

I really hate my skin today!!

Major Flare

Well Lucky me... I am in the throes of a major flare up. My skin has been extra red these past few days. So red in fact that one of the little girls in Nursery yesterday pointed to my are and said ... Ooo Owie!! My arms had been looking good for a while .. except for these past few days.

I guess it doesn't help that I have extra stress at home at the moment. I am so tired of teenage temper tantrums, the arguing, swearing, physical violence and whatever else comes to mind. There is only so much a person can take isn't there and I guess I have about reached my limit. Someone should ban teenagers ... make them skip from the age of 12 to 20 and miss all those yukky teen years!! I've had it!!

Anyway back to my skin for a minute .... I looked in the mirror this morning, something I detest doing, to see how the skin on my back is faring. Well I was horrified to see how bad it was. I know it's been sore for the past 24 hours. So sore that it hurts to touch but I didn't realise how bad it was. My back is almost completely covered with one gigantic spot!!!! I honestly thought it was improving but I guess I was horribly wrong.

Update

Well there's not much been happening here. Not really anyway. I've been doing my baking again after a bit of a break. Mark convinced me that it was time to start the UV again so I did about three weeks ago now. It's making a big difference on my chest and arms. Too bad its not doing much for anywhere else though. I suppose you could say all of the spots are a faded red (pink really) rather than the usual angry red. I do know one thing though, even though I have been doing the right thing again with the lotions and potions & the UV my skin has been biting like crazy at night. My legs, mainly my inner thighs, have been so sore and stinging like the dickens that I sometimes find it had to walk. Oh well I guess I should just get used to it.

Over the last few weeks I've also been having problems with my right knee being sore. Its made me wonder if I am getting psoriatic arthritis or just plain old arthritis. Not that I want either one of them. thankfully my knee doesn't hurt all the time but it gets painful enough when it wants too. Perhaps I'll mention that to me GP next time I go to see him. I don't want to sound like I am a hypochondriac of anything so ... ...

I read an interesting response in regards to a question about scalp P over at the Health Talk site, well kind of interesting lol. Here's the link if you wish to check it out. I guess it's easy to forget what kind of stuff you can use on your scalp to treat your psoriasis. It had been ages since I had P on my scalp and its only been since we moved to where we live now that it has come back. I've been thinking perhaps I need to get some T-gel or even Tea Tree Shampoo. Maybe I'll go into the chemist next week and check out what's on special before I buy anything.

Before I forget the Primary School's anniversary went really well. I even had my photo in the local paper (not that I saw it but I was told about it by a few people). It was a great day. The weather was not too hot nor too cold. Cold enough for long sleeves though!! Of course it was an eventful day for our Angus. He was playing on the equipment and ran smack dab into a pole. He had a cut between his eyebrows and it was pouring with blood. I had to take him to the hospital to get it glued. Just thinking about it right now makes my insides crawl. It was a reasonably deep cut. It's healed quite nicely though but I'm not sure if it will leave a noticeable scar or not. I'm hoping it wont.

Warmer weather .. .. ..

With Summer just around the corner I have been thinking these past few days about how my skin has been lately and what I am going to do about 'baring' all in public after having worn long sleeves and long pants for the past few months.

Now I normally could care less what happens, how I dress or how I look to everyone else but for some reason its been bugging me a little. Normally I wear whatever feels comfortable whether it be shorts, dresses, skirts, pants, long sleeves or short. Maybe I should continue to be that way but as I have said these past few months my skin has been hidden from view. I've only started taking notice of how bad it really looks this past week. Maybe its because I have been sick and hormonal that my skin has been flaring. It's been sorer than usual but I'm not complaining really it's just a bit more noticeable than usual. My legs just look like one huge red blotch, not to mention my arms look the same too. It's hard to find the 'normal' skin in some places.

We've got a big school event coming up soon. It's the 125th anniversary of the little dudes primary school. We're going of course but I've been thinking about that I will be wearing on the day. Now I cant go dressed in my usual track pants and jumpers. They're a bit too daggy to wear to something like this but for the life of me I have no idea what to choose from my wardrobe. Now of course I have been secretly hoping that it will be cool on the day. There will be so many people there that I have never met before who will have absolutely no idea what Psoriasis is. I don't want them to think that I am this horridly diseased person who may be contagious.

I don't even know why I am thinking this way at all. I doubt that by next weekend (when the anniversary celebration is) that my skin will miraculously heal and look 'normal'. I know the weather in October can be on the cool side but I also know that it can be really too. Spring weather is unpredictable after all. Who knows ... maybe it will be cold and I can hide my skin from view just for this day.. ..

Ups and Downs

Golly I hadn't realised that its been so long since I have blogged here. Oops.

What can I say. It's still winter here & I am still having the occasional flare. There were times when I was so sore that I could hardly walk. I hated it!!!

My skin has been okay for the last couple of days. I've been using a whole series of moisturisers and potions (from the doctor) but mainly I have been using Avon's Skin So Soft body soufflé (SSS) and celestone (well its generic equivalent). Up until these past three to four days I would be leaving a massive trail of flakes everywhere I went. It didn't seem to matter what lotions or potions I use I would leave that trail so every one knew where I had been. Our vacuum cleaner has had a real workout these past few weeks.

Back to the SSS cream it's made a big difference. My P doesn't look so angry right now. It's not flaking as badly and I have NOT been as itchy as I would normally be. It's been great! I am so enjoying not being as itchy. Don't get me wrong I still get itchy but it doesn't seem to be as bad as it was. I still wish there was a cure for this blasted thing!!

Major Flare!!

I've having a major flare right now and its so dang annoying. I've been in pain for the past couple of days that walking hurts. The poor boys have missed out on some of their usual weekly activities because I have been unable to drive them there.

I have NEW spots popping up everywhere and my back is just totally covered with P. I've been told by the boys & Mark that I only have a small amount of 'normal' skin on my back. My chest looks like I have had chicken pox or worse. Some of the spots are becoming so big they are joining together. I'm even getting new spots on my butt (Oh it is so NOT fair). Even the ones on my arms have turned into one giant spot again!!

I would hate to try and work out the percentage of my skin that is not covered in P right now!!!

I've been doing all the right things. Making sure that I use my lotions and potions, that I moisturise and I have been doing my baking. It just does NOT seem to be helping at the moment. I know I have been under a bit of stress lately but this is ridiculous!!

It's NOT fair! When will this blasted stuff go away!!!

A Busy Week

Gosh what a busy & chaotic week its been. We've had painters come in and do up the place not that you can really tell the difference in the colour that they used to what was originally on the walls. It's a touch lighter if anything. We didn't get much of a choice as we live in a Housing Commission home and you pretty much have to have the colours that they choose for you. Usually its something pretty bland.

So our house was in a mess with everything moved into the middle of the rooms for a couple of days. For safety reasons Mark took my UVB lamp to our neighbours house for safe keeping. I didn't want the painters to accidentally break any of the globes. Especially since they are worth $200 each and the fact that there are 4 globes was another reason I wanted it our of the way. Not that we would've had to pay for replacement globes if they broke them.

With the lamp next door for a few days I couldn't do my baking this week. I sure did feel it though. My skin was horrid this past week. I don't know whether it was the stress of the painters being here or the fact I couldn't do my UV but I was so sore. My back was so itchy and hurting so badly that I asked Mark to put some daivonex (Australian Prescription Product Guide) on it. I hadn't asked him to do that for me in ages. Mark said that my back is almost completely covered again and he could hardly see any 'normal' skin any more. I've noticed more and more new spots on my chest and arms also. It's so not fair.

For the rest of the week I have made sure that I put on extra lotions and potions just so that my skin wouldn't hurt any more. It's definitely back to my normal routine next week though.

I'm so Sore Today

Oh boy am I so sore today and my skin is flaring big time. It's REALLY pink and it hurts to touch. I'm wondering if it's because I missed last Friday's baking session (I got called to the High School AGAIN! and needed to get there asap because Brodie forgot to take his morning dose of medication) and I didn't have the time like I normally would to bake. I was also thinking that maybe I am pmsing and that everyone at home needs to watch out for the next week rofl. I could turn into a lioness and roar at them all day long!!

I've not long ago finished this mornings baking at 4 minutes 30 seconds per side. Gosh I had forgotten how long 18 minutes really is. It gets so boring standing around doing nothing much at all. I decided than rather waste all of that time I put on some celestone cream (www.mydr.com.au) and read a book of Angus's while I waited for the timer to finish. The book should keep me busy for a while. It's the Chronicles of Narnia. I've finished the first book in it and am now reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
Since Iam so sore I also put on moisturiser as well. It's better to be safe than sorry but I feel all slimy right now and my arms are sliding on the desk! Oh well.

I've also noticed that the P on my hands is returning. It is so NOT fair! I've not really had it on my hands before so why now?? Why when everything else is beginning to improve?? When will this beast go away???

I HATE my skin right now

OMGosh I just absolutely HATE my skin at the moment. It is so SORE and RED! Well maybe not that red but it is redder than usual. It's been slightly warmer weather these past few days (in the mid 20's) and boy I can tell you my body is NOT liking it one bit! My feet have decided to swell up like balloons, well my ankles really, and it's making it awfully difficult to walk at times. To top it off the huge dinner plate sized P on my inner thighs have decided that it is also time to become extremely sore no matter how many times I put lotions and potions on them during the day. Yesterday I used 4 different types of creams and ointments and it wasn't until late evening that my skin decided it wasn't going to burn so much anymore.

I know I am not always the best of people when it comes to using all my lotions and potions correctly. You do get that kind of who cares attitude at times. But even when I have been doing the right thing and using all my meds and all you can see is that the smaller chunks of P are getting larger and merging with the ones next to it, you tend to give up hope and not want to continue. I had three reasonably sized spots on my right forearm. They have now become one giant one which is growing up my arm to join in with the other ones on my upper arm.
I got the shock of my life last night when I checked my back to see if it got burnt from my UVB session yesterday. I haven't checked it for a while but it is almost completely covered in P. And it is driving me crazy with the itching.

Oh Gosh I sound so negative today. I don't mean to complain it's just how I am feeling. Downhearted I guess you could say. I'm off to see my GP tomorrow. I think I should talk to him about doing something else for my skin (not that he would do much anyway) but I'm not happy with how I'm looking of late.

I think I might go soak in the tub with some nice bath oil. Maybe that will help with all the itching. *sigh*

I'm so sore!

Oh man my skin is biting me at the moment. It's on fire!! I know I don't always do the right thing but I do my best and for the last three weeks I have been baking like I am supposed to. I even upped the dosage on my UVB this week to 3 mins 45 seconds and I haven't burnt yet, which is a very good thing. I've even been using my lotions and potions but I am still very sore.

Yesterday we went out shopping to get a few things for Christmas and for the little dudes birthday which is in a couple of weeks. By the time we had finished at the shopping centre I could hardly walk properly. My skin was so dry and angry looking. Even putting moisturiser and daivonex on didn't seem to help at first, in fact it made my P look even redder than it was.

Today I'm not much better. The freezing cold weather we're having today doesn't help. We're two weeks away from the official start of summer and we have had hail and snow (in the mountains near us but not where we live). It's almost like we're in winter again. The weather bureau has even told us to expect a frost tonight. It hasn't been this cold for a while .. thank goodness we have a really good heater where we live now.

I suppose I should put some more lotions and potions on before my skin feels any worse. Hmm here's a thought I could be PMSing .. look out family if I am rofl .. get me some chocolate!

Update

I slackened off a bit with my UVB for a week or so. I needed a break from doing it. I get to fed up and frustrated with how slow it is to work and how long I need to stand there. I've been back on it for just over a week now and even though my skin flared a little when I wasn't doing my baking it is now improving again.

My P still looks yuk no matter what stick you poke at it and I still get sore regardless of the fact that I have been good with my lotions and potions plus using extra moisturiser as well. I do know one thing though, my little dude loves scratching my back at the moment getting as much of the itchy flakes off as he can. At least they aren't the huge pieces he was pulling off during winter :-O

I still haven't taken photos for you all to check out how my skin is looking. Maybe when I am not feeling so slack and camera shy I'll do it.

Gee whiz

Wow it is few and far between for posts on this blog. I cannot believe how slack I have been.
Not much new to tell you either. It's the same old thing. My skin hurts still ~ in fact it really bites at the moment I need to go and put some moisturizer on it before it gets any worse. I've still been using the lotions and potions and doing my UV. Some days my skin looks better than others. In fact it looks okay right now except for the fact that its sore.
Oh well you win some you lose some. Can't have it both ways I guess ~ Looking good and not hurting!

I can't believe it!

I'm burnt again!! I just cannot seem to be winning with my baking! I remember to do it and I still get punished with a burn. I've already dropped it to 3 minutes and look what happens!

My skin is still as sore as ever and even using extra lotions & potions is just not helping right now. I've just put on some more PJ to see if that makes a difference but it hasn't yet. Golly it hurts to walk or even to touch my skin. The amount of heat it's radiating at the moment is amazing .. I don't even feel like I need the heater on tonight.

I forgot ...

Oops I forgot to do my UV today. I'd better remember to do it tomorrow. I can't believe that I forgot. Oh well it's too late to do it now.

I cannot believe how itchy and sore I have been these past few days it's been so annoying. All I've wanted to do is just scratch but I know that is probably one of the worst things I could do. What's a girl meant to do when its SOOOO itchy?!?! I've slapped on extra moisturizer in the hope that it would help but it's only relieved things for a short time.
Golly you should've seen my skin this morning. It was so dry even after I put stuff on it. Maybe I need to put more stuff on more frequently. Starting tomorrow that's just what I'll do. Can't hurt any can it!

Better get off this thing and go slap on the lotions and potions & get ready for bed.

This Bites

Although I didn't wanted to do my UV on Friday I did it anyway. I thought I would drop it also because of the bad burn I got on Wednesday. So I dropped it to 3 minutes. I don't think I burnt from it but I did forget to check it though so I may have.

I swear my skin has been biting so much, well not biting but you know what I mean. It just hurts so much especially by late afternoon or early evening. It hurts to walk, to sit, to do just about anything. It really gets to you after a while and I don't normally complain I just put up with it. It's part of life, you know?

Anyway last night Mark suggested I go take a bath. So I did. I soaked in the tub with some nice bubble bath and some SSS bath oil. Boy what a difference that made. My skin felt nice and smooth and soft. It felt so good not to be sore and itchy! I also slapped on a bit of moisturizer as well just to keep things feeling nicer for longer. I'm thinking I should probably do the soak in the tub at least once a week!

Monday, July 31, 2006

Not Again!!

I was hoping so much that I wouldn't burn but I did and I am SO sore!! My back is just killing me right now it's just so darned itchy at the moment. My skin around my waist feels like it's burning especially where my track pants is touching it. I'd scratch my skin off but I know it will only make it hurt even more than it is right now!! I just wish this would STOP!!!

I just want normal healthy skin!!

We're Moving House Tomorrow

Oh man I cannot believe how sore my skin has been over the past few days. It's been so sore and so red, purple even, that I have been finding it rather difficult to walk or move without being in pain. No matter how much moisturiser, celestone or petroleum jelly I have been using it is sore first thing in the morning and last thing at night. It'll be nice just for it to not hurt for a change!!

I'm thinking that its the stress of moving. We've been packing up the cabin for a while now and over the last 3 days we've been moving boxes and some furniture over to our new home. Perhaps once we've settled from the move my skin might improve. Well I am hoping it does. I swear that I have even found muscles in my legs that must've been dormant for years because they hurt like the dickens right now!
I can't wait until tomorrow night. I plan on soaking in the tub with some nice bubble bath and some bath oil to help with the aches and pains. Maybe that is all I need ... plus the fact that we will no longer be using bore water to wash in! woohoo that will be such a wonderful thing!

My Skin is So Dry it Bites!

I just cannot believe how dry my skin is today. It is so sore ALL over that it hurts to move and it's only when I am sitting down that I feel any relief. I've just asked my little dude to slap some petroleum jelly on my back and that has made a huge difference there. At least the skin on my back doesn't hurt at the moment.

Last week I did the right thing and made sure I found the time for my baking. I reduced the sessions to 5 minutes 15 seconds but I still managed to get a really good burn out of it so I'll keep at the same dose until I no longer burn. I think that would be a great idea because these burns have felt just awful!!

Now to get off this thing and put pj on the rest of my skin. Golly I can't wait to move house and for winter to be over. The less stress I have the better!!!!
