Life with Psoriasis Blog

I came across this great blog today called Life with Psoriasis. It's by a lady called Christa. I think I like her blog much more than I like mine rofl.

She's made me think about how I should go about creating more posts. Much more interesting than they have been these past few months at least. So with any luck perhaps there will be more info on here than I had been placing here previously.

On this regards I spoke with the lady from Church who is a naturopath. I was telling her how my skin has gone back to flaring again now that I have run out of the tonic that she had prepared for me. I asked her if she could prepare some more of it for me. I know it doesn't taste the best but it was helping me so I thought that I should continue it. I know whatever I do is going to be a long term thing and it may never clear like I would hope but there is always that chance that it might.

I've not been doing my UVB like I was and I sure am paying for it. Although I have been good and have used my lotions and potions. I need to make another appointment with my GP this week to get some more creams and to get a repeat prescription for some other meds I am taking. Last time I was there my Dr, said something about PCOS (PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome). I think I might have another talk with him about it and see what else he has to say.

psoriasis can be debilitating and - on the other hand - it can be uplifting (look at Nabokov, look at Updike). I refused to succumb to it and after many a trial found the natural medicine that works for me: Champori anti-psoriasis cream and spray combination!!! Finally I live again and remember what I am in reality!! A blessing.

Hi Ollie
I'm glad that you have found something to help you. Also thanks for pointing out some more famous people with psoriasis. I didn't know of these two people.

My daughters and I have suffered with psoriasis for years. The only thing that has worked for us is changing the clothing that we wear. Try buying bamboo clothing. I think there must be something in the pesticides that are in cotton clothing that made psoriasis flare up.
Hope that helps!

Jo-anne Blossy said...

Hi Jack

I never thought of the bamboo clothing. I have only come across them once in an Aussie Disposal store. It will be worth looking into.
Thanks for the idea.

I suffer from psoriasis all my life, i started a blog to hope to bring people together start talking about this disease. Think people suffering from psoriasis benefit form talking and sharing experiences and emotions.

It pretty much ruined my life for years. Turned me in to a shy, ashamed man instead of the happy social man i used to be.

Now struggle each day to start living, just like Leann I suppose :-)

I got psoriasis when I was 20 years old. I worked as a hairstylist and quickly changed paths. Working in a salon with a ton of superficial women- not fun when you can't show your arms and legs in July! Anyways...yeah it can suck but we rock!! Psoriasis builds character. It's true. We have it, unfortunatly. I feel for anyone whose life has been changed by this. Mine was, temporarily but it gets better, easier. I was 86% body covered with psoriasis and now I was about 5%. I will take it! I wish you all the best...good luck and chin up!!!!

It could be worse, right???

Tracy, 24 years old, Chicago

Jo-anne Blossy said...

You are so right there Tracy. Having psoriasis does build character and makes us stronger in ways that we would have never been able to achieve if we didn't have it.
I have made some really great friends because of this disease. Friends that I am sure I was meant to find.
Even though it can get us down at times there really are blessings associated with it to.

Congrats on getting your skin down to 5% coverage. That is awesome!

I don't know if anyone here has ever heard of Tamanu Oil for the treatment of psoriasis? Tamanu nuts grow naturally in a small Melanesian Island called Vanuatu and the oil removed. It is 100% natural with nothing added and has been used to treat psoriasis quite effectly. You will find more information here:
http://www.volcanicearth.com.au/how-to-cure-psoriasis.html

I only hope this information is of help to everyone here.

Kind Regards

Thanks for the tip MaryAnn. I did some reading on the oil and thought that it sounded okay.
If others are interested I suggest that you do a google search and suss it all out for yourself before making a decision.

As with anything new though if people try this I just want them to be aware that it may cause side effects. I suggest that you use it in a small, inconspicuous place to see if your skin reacts to it.

MaryAnn said...

yes Blossy I agree, if anyone wants to try Tamanu Oil just test a small amount on your skin first.

Hi everyone I'm 19 and I've had psoriasis since I was 12, at first it used to really get me down, people are incredibly insensitive, It's not nice to have just hit high school and face such ridicule, it's made worse when members of your own family say "why don't you see a doctor about that" to them all skin conditions are magically curable, and the annoying thing is after explaining it to some people they'll ask you the same question at the next stupid family dinner yippee. When I turned 16 I took control of my psoriasis and I use topical steroids to keep it away from areas of my body that are exposed (namely my arms) and I medicate my face with milder creams too. The rest I honestly don't care about nobody sees it I can't be bothered to moisturize over and over, I think just living your life and not going head over heels with treatments is one way of standing up to the condition. I'm relieved I can feel comfortable in a room full of people, of course i make sure to brief anybody who knows me well enough about my psoriasis. There isn't really a point in this post I just wanted to see how others were holding up I don't know anyone else with psoriasis so, I hope you guys aren't letting it get you down.

I think we're part of a privileged few who actually understand how overrated appearances are, from what I've seen beauty is only skin deep. We know better than to judge people based on mass-media induced ideals of beauty.

Jo-anne Blossy said...

Hi sulaiman, I totally agree with you about how psoriasis sufferers are able to see people for who we really are & not what we look like.

I am so sorry that some of your family members aren't as understanding as they could be. I am sure that a lot of us have been in similar if not the same situation.

Take care
B

There exist no particular treatments discovered to this day for this reoccurring skin issue which is affecting anywhere between 1 to two percent of American people. All treatment available out there tries to manage the signs and prevent any sort of secondary infections. Various other recommended medicines abundant in vitamin A (retinal) or D can at the same time be recommended by a healthcare provider. Consequently many other of these frequently used treatments available (such as topical steroids, methotrexate, cyclosporine, psoralen and ultraviolet treatment solution) can basically be employed for a limited time period as continuous high exposure or use also increases the probability for toxic effects to occur.

As we as a community are demanding more and more products that tend to be natural and possess very little or no secondary effects and very little or no chemicals added, numerous organic products have began to become popular as treatments. For itching and minor dermis tenderness some people utilize oatmeal products. Increasingly more people are starting to be aware of the benefit of Shea Butter which is a natural emollient which possesses an array of therapeutic attributes. This may not cure psoriasis, but those who have experimented with it have reported remarkable results. Unfortunately because no patent can be put on such a product produced by nature, hardly ever have pharmaceuticals or medical associations endorsed its use. The time has come for consumers to take matters into their own hands and uncover the therapeutic benefits of organic holistic products. Experiment with Shea Butter and let the final results speak for themselves.

Jo-anne Blossy said...

Thank you Christian. I vaguely remember using something with Shea butter in it many years ago. So long ago in fact that I cannot recall how my skin reacted with it.

As I have mentioned before if anyone wishes to try something new please use it in an inconspicuous place first to see how you skin behaves. I would hate for you to have an allergic reaction or a flare up.

You are quite welcome Jo-anne.
It is so hard to see people struggle with this skin condition. I have a good firend in Phoenix who has an extreme case. He is using the Franzwa Pearls Shea butter cream with amazing results. We practice Karate together. I got a call from him, where he mentioned that the people at the Dojo were very surprised by the results. He is documenting his progress with pictures. We developed a cream in a soft form and keep it unrefined and 100% pure. The vast majority on the market are not 100% Shea. I would encourage you to try it. www.franzwapearls.com

Hi Guys,

Have any of you heard of a product called Theraflax? a family friend used it a few years ago for his psoriasis and it seemed to help but then it wasn't available anymore. i looked around but cant find it. Any ideas? The stuff is supposed to work quite well but you need to drink it rather than apply it to your lesions. Just wondering if it's okay to take.

chris

Jo-anne Blossy said...

Hi Chris,
I honestly have never heard of Theraflax so I can't let you know if it is okay to take or not. The best person to ask would be your Doctor or you Pharmacist. Especially if you take other medicines. They would have a better idea on whether it would affect any products/medicines you already use. I would have for anything to go wrong.
Good luck though.

Hi Jo-anne,

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep looking and see if I can find out more about it. I looked around and found a website selling it but i wanted to check if anyone has used it before. I'll let you know if find out more.
thanks again.

Hey guys, great info and suggestions, I really want to try visiting the Dead Sea and seeing if it's waters can help me out.

Psoriasis blatantly sucks...big time! I've had it for 3 or 4 years now and it's done a lot more harm then good, probably because its done no good whatsoever. Haha, can you imagine that?

Anyways, I want to tell you all about something I've been taking for about 3 months now called Low-Dose Naltrexone. I suggest typing LDN in google and going to the main website, it contains lots of information on this drug.

Basically it can help out anyone and everyone with an auto immune disorder, or at least that's what a lot of researchers are saying, though because the drug is only like 35 dollars most pharmaceutical companies won't put research into it...mainly because they're greedy bastards. I'm going to be posting bi-weekly updates on how this drug is helping me out for anyone that's interested in trying it but aren't sure whether or not it's a waste of time, oh, and I've also been combining it with some natural remedies like this bee honey mix I bought offline.

I hope the greatest for all my fellow comrades combating this disease!

Sincerely, Derek

I've visited the Dead Sea and it was very helpful. I saw my Psoriasis clear up and it inspired me that I didn't have to live with it just getting worse and worse. I started to get more proactive and I started changing my diet starting in February of this year. I've been seeing great results, just from changing what I eat! But yes... the Dead Sea is great too!

I've been suffering from psoriasis for a few years now. It started on my scalp and now it seems to be spreading to the rest of my body. Just this morning I came across a website called serenaskin.com has anyone tried this before? I am a little skeptical about buying stuff online. Its all natural and it comes with an ointment, a spray and an extract that you take with water...... any advice is appreciated as I am going on vacation in 2 months with my husband and would like to get rid of the ugly patches on my skin.... I am desperate.... thank you..

I wrote what i know and 100000% sure about this things ,guys and girls avoid first milk then readymade juices and brinjal and green chilli and groundnuts and cakes and bread and sour tasting items and bengal gram dal and green dal, this is very important since these are first clss and dreadful triggers, you may wonder how can i say exactly! i am also suffering from this skin problem

again saying whether ur mom cooks for u r not,try cooking urself ur food

again i am a vegetarian so i dont know about non veg items and alcohol ,but u avoid non veg and alcohol to get rid of this problem.

again if u r fat ,go become lean ,just a tip to become lean is avoid eating at nights and eat only breakfast and lunch and avoid snacks

dont travel more in dusty and crowded places

keep clean ur skin, avoid long time in extreme sunlight

dont become excited more with emotion ,dont watch films like "final destination" as it hurts people with soft hearts

dont become angry,to control it dont do weight lifting exercises and dont eat too much masala

then if u r not married ,i know how u feel, dont search urself for getting love ,but let it come to u

control stress by doing breathing excercises like pranayama

chant gods spell when u r free,it relieves mind from stress and gives peace to it

coming to computers ,dont make urself sit before it for more than 2 hours in a day,the monitor radiation also triggers psoriasis in face and head mostly

sorry to guys and girls if u feel wrong about what i said here, but a small thing try first, make a beat of psoriasis by diet and by controlling stress

by controling diet and stress ur condition becomes like posriasis triggers very very slowly like u will feel that atleast 80% to 95% relief from it but the flares already on skin should be treated by onitments

all doctors say no diet options and says eat whatever healthier because they dont know it,only in indian ayurveda its written diet options and i am the one who already experimented this

sure u will beat 80 to 95 % of psoriasis if u follow diet restrictions

sorry again guys if i am wrong or hurts u!but good luck and have a nice life

Jo-anne Blossy said...

That is a very interesting concept and a very strict diet anil. Good luck to anyone who can follow that but I honestly don't think that my dietitian or my diabetes educator would be happy if I followed a diet like that.

My name is Abigail and I am 15 years old. I've suffered with scalp psoriasis that traveled down to my neck for a little over five years. My family researched and researched for a cure to my psoriasis. Eventually they gave up and I just accepted the fact that I would love with this itch and embarrassment forever. Well last month I was sick with a sinus infection so my mom just brought me to the Walgreens walk-in doctor. Out of thinking, I asked my doctor what would be the cure for psoriasis. It was hard finding a dermatologist here so I thought I would ask. She called her own dermatologist over the phone and prescribed a gel called Fluocinonide. Since I've tried about every psoriasis treatment available without any success, I just knew this would not work but I gave it a try anyways. Mom applied it every night. It gave me complete relief of itching. After about 5 applications over a period of five days, my psoriasis was completely gone. My skin was brand new and smooth. We still applied it about a week after it was cured just to be sure. I am proud to say that it DID work and psoriasis CAN very well be cured. Please try this because I know how the embarrassment and constant itching feels. Trust me and ask your local doctor for this product. It will not waste your time and the price is very cheap. About $12 a tube. You will not be disappointed. I know how it feels. Never give up on finding your cure!

Hi Joanne
I read your blog with interest. My husband suffers from severe psoriasis too and has tried many treatments over the past 40 years. He partnered with two PhD scientists and they researched specific probiotic strains that modulate the immune and inflammatory systems, thereby reducing psoriasis symptoms. They developed PSClear 10, a probiotic supplement and found that, while not a cure, it did rid him & others of most psoriasis plaques after taking the supplement for 2-3 months. He is so happy to be rid of the itchiness. Please visit www.tamarackbiotics.com for more information.
